FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions

When Do I Need To Book Equipment?

To ensure that you get exactly what you need we strongly suggest you place your order as early as possible. While we have a large range of equipment available for hire, unfortunately, there are times during the peak periods when there is a chance that the equipment that you require is not available. By booking early you can guarantee that your needs are covered.

How Long Do I Have The Equipment For?

Unless you have a specific timetable, generally, marquees are set up 1-2 days prior to the event and dismantled 1-2 days after the event.  This means that if your function is on a Saturday night the marquees will be set up on Thursday or Friday, and then dismantled on Monday or Tuesday. This ensures you have plenty of time to decorate and then to relax after the event.

Can I Extend The Hire Period?

The hire rates quoted generally apply to one single event over a period not exceeding 5 days which includes the time required to install and dismantle the hire equipment. If you have multiple events or would like to extend the event, please call our event consultants as special discounts on additional hire charges may be available.

What Does A Marquee Cost To Hire?

Marquees come in many shapes and sizes and as such prices can range from $100 for a 2m x 2m marquee into larger structures. A typical marquee in a backyard will cost between $400 and $800.

How Do I Determine What Size Marquee I Need?

There are many factors to consider when determining the size of marquee required for your event and typically there is more than one correct answer. For complex events or events with limited space, our event consultants may need to do a site inspection to determine the right solution for you. Some of the factors that need to be considered include:-

  • What are the measurements of the space?

  • What is your event or function type?

  • How many people are you catering for?

  • Are your guests going to be seated or is it a casual standing event?

  • Do you require a dance floor?

While this may appear complex, our event consultants are experienced in helping you easily determine the right marquee for you. A quote fee may apply to on-site quotation visits. Please call our event consultants for more information on quotations.

What Size Marquees Are Available?

Thankfully, to suit your particular event, marquees come in various widths and lengths. Our 2m, 3m, 4m, 5m, 6m, 7m wide marquees can be joined together with other shelters to create the shape or length that you may require.

Can Marquees Be Installed In Asphalt Or Concrete Car Parks Or On Other Surfaces Where They Cannot Be Pegged Into The Ground?

Yes they can. While our preferred installation method is with the use of pegs driven into grass surfaces or natural ground, weights can be used instead.

Could The Marquee Damage Cables And Pipes Running Underneath The Site?

Generally, there should be no damage, however, damage is possible especially if pegs are used. If any cabling or pipe work is near the surface it is important for you to advise us to avoid damage. Our experienced event consultants can advise on the best means of securing the marquee.

What Happens If Something Gets Damaged?

The client is responsible at all times for the security of equipment whilst it is on site. If damages occur then the costs to repair or replace will be charged.

What style of marquees are available?

We offer two types of Marquees - the standard Pop Up Marquee, and the Pavilion Style Marquee. To find out more about their differences, please contact our staff.

Will we need an electricity source?

Yes, our lighting requires electricity and this will normally need to be drawn from a nearby building/house. We may provide electrical extension cords upon request.

How do I know what size to order?

You will need to provide us with measurements of your space. Through discussions about guest numbers and an understanding of what the marquee is to be used for, we can work out how much space will be required. A quote fee may apply to on-site quotation visits. Please call our event consultants for more information on quotations.

What types of windows are offered?

We offer both clear PE arch-windows with the Pavilion Style. Please refer to our gallery for more photographs

Can marquees be used all year round for outdoor events?

As our marquees can only withstand up to 35km/hr of wind speed, it is always wise to respect the weather and look at the site factors.  If a site is particularly an open-space exposed to prevailing winds then it is always best to have a Plan B in place as a contingency. If we can determine that the weather is unsuitable for your event, due to safety concerns we may need to cancel your event and provide you with a full refund. In the case that the weather is extreme and you would still like to proceed with your event regardless of the weather conditions, you may be liable for damages caused to our equipment.

Where can you erect a marquee?

A marquee can be erected almost anywhere although a flat, level site with good vehicle access is ideal and would be the most cost effective.

We will endeavour to install a marquee to meet the needs of the clients.

How far in advance of the event date do you need to book?

It is difficult to advise on how early a booking needs to be made. Peak summer dates can sell quickly but most marquee companies are able to service several events each weekend. If you have received a quote and are considering a date then it would be wise to keep the marquee company informed as they can always let you know when a date is selling out and give you the chance to secure it if you wish. Early and late season dates are often available at much shorter notice.

Do you supply heaters?

Unfortunately we do not supply heaters due to safety concerns. However, heaters can be rented out from an external supplier to be used in the Marquee. Our recommendation is to utilise short/small heaters and set at low temperatures to avoid hazards.

How is the marquee lit?

A variety of lighting effects are available. We can provide a range of lighting effects including colour changing LED Party lighting, festoon string light bulb lighting, fairy lighting, standard fluorescent lighting, disco balls all from our own stock.

What about marquee decoration?

In terms of Marquee decorations we provide lantern installations, party lighting installations, Flower Walls/backdrops.. And many more. We are also happy for clients to add their own extra decor such as plinths, curtains, etc.

Does it matter if my garden/site has a slope?

A slight slope is nothing to worry about. A more pronounced slope is not a problem for the marquee structure but may be uncomfortable for guests. We are happy to come along for a site visit and advise, alternatively you can send us some photos across via email, text, Facebook inbox.

How do you get through to the garden?

We can either go through the house, through side access or if you have access from the back of the garden this is also fine. If there are any stairs involved please let us know in advance.

Can I see the marquees and equipment you offer and the hire prices?

Please view our products page on our website to view our marquees and other party supplies for hire.

Do you deliver services to my area?

If you live in Victoria, we may deliver services to you if you are located within a fair distance from our business site. Please get in touch with us to confirm.

Can I amend the booking once I have paid the deposit?

Yes, you can amend the booking, however you cannot cancel any items without being charged. Please make amendments as soon as possible, as the equipment will need to be prepared and loaded into the vans. If amendments are made less than 7 days before the set up date we cannot guarantee that it will be ready in time.

Why do I need to pay a refundable security deposit?

As the equipment we are hiring is quite expensive we need to take a security bond in case of damages.

How much do I have to pay for delivery and collection?

Charges for delivery and collection are dependent on your location. When we have your location details we can give you an accurate quote. Additional charges may be incurred for out of hours, weekend or Bank Holiday deliveries and collections. There may also be extra charges for difficulties with access and other issues that occur.

How can I trust you will show up and delivered high quality service and goods?

We are proud of our reputation. Please check out our reviews on Facebook and search for us on Google. Alternatively give us a call and have a little chat.

How and when can I pay?

If your event is less than 2 weeks away we will require payment in full. If your event is over 2 weeks away we require a holding deposit of 40% of the balance to secure the booking and the remainder of the payment is required 5 days before your event date. Payment can be made via bank transfer using online and telephone banking or by popping in to your local bank. We can also accept cheques, however we must receive the cheque with the remaining balance 3 weeks before the event date. We also accept Visa/Mastercard payments over the phone. Please call us for more details.

When should I cut the grass?

We recommend cutting the grass a couple of days prior to the arrival of the marquee to allow it to dry out. The aim is to erect the marquee on a dry surface to limit condensation and damage to lawn. Cutting the grass will also ensure a flat surface when laying the carpet.

Will flooring protect the grass and why do I need it?

Yes. The carpet will protect the grass from becoming muddy and ruined as lots of people will be walking on it during the event. It will also stop people from getting muddy shoes, or heels from sinking into the dirt, and dragging it in the house. When grass is wet it can also become very slippery. Flooring can also stop the tables and chairs from sinking in.

Can you join two or more of your marquee’s together?

Yes, we can allow for our marquees to stand side by side, end to end or in an L shape. We also have rain gutters for the Pop Up style marquees however we may not have rain gutters readily available for the Pavilion Style Marquees.

Can I open the marquee sides?

Yes. With all of our marquees we hire you can choose whether to open or close all four sides. As standard when hiring a marquee, the price includes the roof and all four sides, however you can opt to leave the sides off if that’s easier.

Where can I leave a review?

We would be happy to hear how your marquee hire experience went with us so please feel free to message us and tell us! Alternatively, a review can be left via Google or Facebook.

Can I send you some pictures?

We would love to see the pictures from your event, we also send out gifts to customers who can provide us with some beautiful event photos! These will be displayed on our sites and advertising pages to give future customers an idea of just how good an event can look!
